Organizing Tip: Keeping a Record
Throughout this website, I plan to share with your various tips to help your cooking and household management experience be more rewarding. Therefore, I'd like to suggest that you invest in the items shown in the picture: A log book, sharpie pens, freezer tape, and a label maker. These items will help keep you organized, stress free, and afford you the opportunity to know what you have in your freezer, or pantry.
When I store soups, lunches, leftovers, or future meals, I label everything before it gets put away. The log book tells you at a glance what you have stored, and when you stored it for easy access. Why rummage through the freezer to find something, only to realize you used it last week and forgot. The log tells you straight away what you have. The freezer tape can be used on both containers, freezer bags, or meat paper. The Sharpies don't smug either. I use the label maker to label everything from spice and herb containers, to clear containers I pick up at the Dollar store to store small, or large amounts of dry goods in the pantry. When you label everything, you will know what you have before you go to the store to buy more. The log book also helps you rotate your stock better too. Use the oldest first, then buy or create more. Especially your flavor bombs stored in the freezer.
