Organizational Tip: Yard Work
Yard work is always daunting so why not do yourself a favor and get organized this year. The best way to get organized is to grab a clipboard, your notepad and pen, then do a walkabout around the yard. While you're talking the yard, take each section of the yard and list out what you believe needs to be done in the coming weeks. For example, here is my list of things to be done in the yard, maybe it will spark some ideas.
1) Clear out debris from fence line
2) Lay out garden beds along fence line
3) Purchase 10 bags of miracle grow top soil and lay along the new bed
4) buy flowers and plant
5) Pick up sticks, branches, and debris from lawn.
6) Rake and de-thatch lawn of old grass.
7) Aerate lawn and fertilize
8) Grass seed areas that are devoid of grass, cover with hay and water
9) Clean out Herb/Veggy Garden, til, put down topsoil, re-til, plant
10) Clean off patio
11) Clean Grill
12) Plan out new garden bed along other side of yard
13) Empty winter compost into garden beds and till into soil
You get the idea right? Once you have a list, you can plan out your trips to the store to grab what you need, then plan out your yard projects accordingly. It only takes an hour to go through the yard and make that list, it doesn't have to be perfect, nor does it have to be overwhelming. After all, you've got the entire summer to make your projects materialize.
