Couscous is a traditional North African staple food made of semolina
and served with a meat or vegetable stew. Couscous is also considered an Italian and
French staple to replace pasta or rice in many dishes. This one side dish is very versatile that
will compliment any dish. Usually you can find it in your rice aisle of your
grocery store. Simple and quick cooking
enhances any dish.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups dry couscous
2 3/4 cups water
1/4 teaspoon salt
Direction:
In a medium sauce pan bring water to a boil. Add the salt
and once a full boil, remove from heat and add couscous, stirring until fully
mixed. Let stand for 5 minutes. Consistency should result in light and fluffy
couscous. If you wish to use Chicken
broth instead of water, this will give the couscous a flavorful taste.
