Do you find yourself having more soil attached to those weeds when you're done clearing out the garden? Or have you created a new flowerbed, but want to use some of the soil attached to the grass, or weeds? Here is a simple project to help you quickly sift that soil free.
2 x 4 x 10 piece of wood
wire fencing, or a screen (small holes)
staple gun with staples
8 3 inch screws
Duck tape
Cut your 2 x 4 into 4 pieces, 30 inches and lay out on the floor or a table. Using the 3 inch screws, drive those babies into the wood, two per corner. Be sure to screw into the side that is solid, not the middle piece. Your objective is to secure the side pieces to the inside pieces to hold securely. Once you are done with the frame, then its time for the screening/fencing. Lay the mesh out on the floor, place frame on top, leaving an inch or so on the top and bottom. Along the left and right, be sure to fold over so you can secure the mesh to the inside with a staple gun. This will help make the box more sturdy when sifting the soil. For the corners, I recommend you fold them over each other, like you would do with a sheet on the bed. Hammer all staples firmly in place to ensure no slippage. If there are any tiny wires sticking up, us my favorite of all tapes, duck tape to cover them up. The last thing you want is to be cut on those little tiny pieces of wire. Safety is my motto. Have fun sifting the soil and getting rid of those pesky weeds. Enjoy
