Five Spice Seasoning

Five Spice Seasoning

It is fitting that I highlight my Asian Five Spice Seasoning today of all day. You see, today is the day the Chinese celebrated the Ching Ming Festival (aka Qingming Festival).  Ching, in Chinese, means pure or clean and Ming means brightness. Here is wishing you all a pure and bright year.

One of the best seasonings is the five spice seasoning because it gives any dish an amazing boost of flavor. I especially love Five Spice Chicken over a bed of fresh salad greens, or over Jasmine rice. Experiment and find the dish that lights up your culinary taste buds.

Ingredients:

6 teaspoons anise seed
6 teaspoons star anise
3 tablespoons whole cloves
1 5-inch piece of cinnamon stick, totally crushed
8 teaspoons of fennel seed

Directions:

In your food processor, combine all of the above ingredients into the bowl and mix until you have a fine powder. Please make sure that all ingredients are pulverized into powder.  Use an air-tight cover and container to store your seasoning mix. Label it and enjoy saving money.
