Ras El Hanout is an aromatic blend of spices used in Moroccan cuisine. Once you've tried Moroccan dishes you'll be hooked and want to try more of them in the future. Moroccan dishes can have anywhere from 30 to 80 spices in a dish. Spices can be mild to extremely hot in taste, it's up to you to experiment with the spices to determine the heat intensity you like. the following blend is great for stews, meat or tagine dishes. It can be rubbed on meats, poultry, lamb or mixed into meatballs. Also good for roasted veggies or dips. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
2 teaspoons ground ginger
2 teaspoons ground cardamon
2 teaspoons ground mace
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon allspice
1 teaspoon coriander
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon turmeric
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon white pepper
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon anise seed
1/4 teaspoon cloves
Combine all of the ingredients in a mortar and pestle and grind them up into a fine powder. Store in an airtight jar for 6 months. Enjoy!
