The Best Homemade Cornbread Recipe
This classic homemade cornbread recipe is a time-honored
favorite, consistently delivering delicious results! I have made it for many
years and for many reasons, holiday side dish or just with Chili, either way it
is a simple yet flavorful dish, and has garnered rave reviews from those who
have enjoyed it over the years.

Ingredients
1 cup all-purpose flour, not self-rising flour
1 cup yellow cornmeal, fine ground, not cornmeal mix
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder, see notes for recent changes
1/3 cup neutral oil or melted butter
1 large egg
1 cup milk, or milk substitute like almond milk

Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F.
Grease a 9-inch round cake pan, square baking dish, or cast
iron skillet and set aside.
In a bowl, mix flour, cornmeal, sugar, salt, and baking
powder. Create a well in the center; add oil or butter, milk, and egg. Stir
gently until just combined with some lumps.
Pour into the pan and bake for 25 minutes until golden
brown. Enjoy hot! I serve this cornbread with melted butter and drizzle honey
on top too. Enjoy!
