Growing up in New York and
surrounded by real Italian food, I was taught how to make Sausage, Peppers, and
Onion in various ways, oven, stovetop, grill, and yes, Crockpot style too. This
recipe is for the crockpot. It’s filled with all the favorite flavors of Juicy
Italian sausage gently simmering with marinara, bell peppers, onions, and spices
in your trusty crockpot. Perfect for a quick weeknight meal, enjoy it in a
hoagie roll or over pasta!
Ingredients
4 Italian Sausage Links
2 Bell Peppers, I use a
mix of red and green, seeded and sliced into strips
1/2 Large White
Onion, Sliced into strips
1/2 Cup Marinara
Sauce
2 Teaspoons Each, Garlic
Powder, Italian Seasoning
2 Cup Shredded
Italian Cheese Blend,
2 Hoagie rolls
Instructions
Add the Italian Sausage to the
slow cooker. Top with the bell peppers and onions. Sprinkle on the
salt, garlic, and Italian seasoning. Pour on the marinara sauce. Cover and
cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
If desired, toast the hoagie
rolls under the broiler for 1-2 minutes. Fill each roll with one sausage, a handful of onions and peppers and the desired amount of sauce. Top with
shredded cheese and broil for 1-2 more minutes until cheese is melted.
Serve immediately.
Leftovers can either be stored
in the fridge for a few days in an airtight container, or this freezes very well.
