Alfredo Sauce

Homemade alfredo sauce truly stands out; this recipe is simply unbeatable! It's not just easy to prepare, but the flavor is outstanding. Ideal for all your pasta dishes, once you try this classic version, you'll never want store bought again!

Ingredients

4 Tbsp salted butter

3 garlic cloves, minced

1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream

1 Tbsp all-purpose flour

1/4 cup whole milk (or 2%)

1 cup grated parmesan/romano cheese

salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

Heat the skillet to a low/medium heat. Add butter to the pan, and once melted, add garlic and cook until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic. Then add your flour and mix until it absorbs the butter and smells a bit nutty. Then slowly add your cream and milk. Do not boil the mixture just keep it at a low simmer. Continue mixing until a smooth sauce develops.

Begin to add the parmesan/Romano cheese in small portions and continue whisking. Do this until all the cheese is incorporated. Whisk in salt and pepper.

Bring the sauce up to a light simmer, turn the heat to low, and cook until the sauce is nice and thick. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.

Notes

The secret to a flawless Alfredo sauce lies in your technique.

Keep the heat low to avoid burning butter or scalding milk; never let it boil! Once it does, you’ll ruin the smoothness.

Choosing the right cheese is crucial! Shred your own—pre-shredded cheese has starch that ruins meltability and texture. Say goodbye to gritty sauces!

Fridge: The sauce will stay fresh in a jar sealed for 4-5 days in the refrigerator. Do not attempt to freeze this sauce as it won’t freeze well.

Reheat: Reheat over low heat until hot. You may need to add more milk if the sauce is too thick.
