What's that draw under the stove used for?

Have you ever wondered what the draw under your oven was used for? I bet you store all your baking pans in there, don't you? Well clean out that draw because that's not what it's used for. Actually it's a proving or warming drawn to help your dough rise or to keep your meal dishes warm before you serve them to your guests.

In a gas stove set up it could be a broiling draw, but in an electric stove it's a proving or warming draw. So what's a proving draw. Well a proving draw is used to help your bread dough or cake or cookie dough rise or double in size to help it bake better. It's called proving your dough.  A warming draw helps you keep already finished dishes stay warm until you're ready to serve the entire meal, say for the holidays.  It's not used to house your pots and pans or baking pans, so clean that draw out and put it to good use for what it was intended to be used for. Happy baking and cooking this holiday season.
