Bacon Butty Sandwich

Bacon Butty Sandwich

In America, we call it a bacon lettuce and tomato sandwich, but in the UK they call it a Bacon Butty Sandwich and it’s just as good as the American Version. However, we in America make it with two slices of white bread, whereas the Brits use a roll. And their bacon is so much better than ours because it has more bacon meat on its slices. Aunt Katie introduced me to Parma Ham which is like English Bacon but tastes so good. However, in the UK they rarely use lettuce on their sandwiches, so they don’t include it in recipes like this. Try it you might like their version better.

Ingredients

This recipe makes 1 single serving

Roll of your choice, then slice in half

3-4 slices of parma ham or strip Bacon (make sure it has good meat vs fat content in the slices)

Tomato

Butter

Ketchup or HB brown sauce (Optional)

Directions:

Put the grill on medium heat and cook the bacon on either side for a few minutes until as crispy as you like it.

Slice the tomatoes and roll and add them under the grill until the roll is toasted and the tomatoes have softened as much as you like them.

Butter one slice of the roll and top with the bacon and tomatoes. Optionally add on some Ketchup or brown sauce.

Top with the other side of the roll.

Enjoy warm!
