Shamrock Shake
My brother-in-law George first made me one of these as a treat
for helping him in his restaurant during St. Patrick’s Day weekend one year. He
knew I loved vanilla milkshakes, so he decided to make one of them. Come to
find out he adapted the recipe from McDonald’s who developed this shake back over
50 years ago. He just laughed when I confronted him with this news and handed
me another one to shut me up. I still laugh about it even today. He made one
for my sister but added Crème De Mint to hers because I don’t drink booze, and
she did.
Ingredients
2 cups vanilla ice cream
1 cup milk
2-3 Tbsp. mint syrup
or 1-2 tsp mint extract and a few drops of green food
coloring
Instructions
Place ice cream, milk, and syrup or extract and food
coloring in a blender and blend. Add more milk or ice cream to create your
desired consistency.
You may also adjust the flavoring to your taste.
