Konkani Chicken is an irresistible spicy delight, featuring chicken simmered in a fiery Konkani masala gravy and enriched with golden brown copra. It's the ultimate masaledaar chatpata feast!
Maharashtrian cuisine, also known
as Marathi Cuisine, ranges from mild to mouthwateringly spicy dishes. Rice and
bread are staples here. Bhakri, a flatbread made from jowar or bajra, pairs
perfectly with bhaaji (vegetables) or zesty chutney!
Servings: 4
Ingredients
1 tablespoon Konkani masala
1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
3 Green chillies (crushed)
1 piece Ginger (crushed)
6-8 Garlic cloves (crushed)
½ Tablespoon Copra (coconut dried
powder)
Salt - to taste.
1 cup chopped Onions
Curry leaves - 1 spring.
Cinnamon sticks (1/2 inch) - 5-6
pieces.
2 tablespoons Oil
Chicken - 500 grams.
1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
Water - as required.
2 Tablespoons Tomato puree
1/2 teaspoon Garam masala powder
1 tablespoon Coriander leaves
(chopped)
Directions
Take copra (dry coconut), grate
and brown it well on a hot tawa and keep aside.
Heat oil in a hot pan, add small
pieces of cinnamon, curry leaves, chopped onions, salt, and fry until the onions
turn golden in color and become crispy.
Add crushed garlic, ginger, green
chilies, and saute well until the raw flavors are gone.
Add red chili powder, konkani
masala, turmeric powder, and mix all the ingredients well.
Add the chicken pieces and sauté
well.
Do not add water as the chicken
will ooze out its moisture, reduce the heat, and cover the pan with a lid. Cook
for about 10 minutes.
After 10 -12 minutes, open the lid
and check the consistency, add some water and mix.
Add tomato puree, garam masala, and the grated browned copra, then simmer for 2 minutes.
Sprinkle chopped coriander mix
and switch off the flame.
