Cobb salad dressing is a simple
vinaigrette infused with mustard and lemon juice. It’s great for not only a
salad but also to be used as a marinade for meat and chicken. Try it, you’ll
love it.
It's also quick to prepare,
ideally in a blender or food processor, but you can easily whisk it up in a
bowl too.
I love learning about the history of
foods, and my Chef friend told me that Cobb Salad Dressing was originally
crafted by Chef Bob Cobb at the Brown Derby Restaurant in Hollywood during the
1930s, for one of the starlets in the new movie industry in the city. He didn’t
know which one, but if anyone does, I’d love to learn more about her.
Ingredients
1/3 cup red wine
vinegar
juice of ½ lemon
1 garlic clove
2 teaspoons Worcestershire
sauce
1 ½ tablespoons Dijon
mustard
1 teaspoon sugar
¼ cup water
1/3 cup olive oil
2/3 cup salad oil
sea salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Add all of the ingredients to a
blender and pulse at high speed until the dressing is combined and emulsified.
Serve or store in the
refrigerator in an airtight container or jar for up to one week, that’s if it
lasts that long.
