Snickerdoodles

Snickerdoodle Cookies

I've made Snickerdoodles before, but this batch is irresistible—soft in the center, and slightly crisp on the edges. The cinnamon and sugar blend? Absolutely divine! What is a Snickerdoodle

Servings: 40 cookies

Ingredients

Cookies

  • 1 cup butter (2 sticks) softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp cream of tartar

Topping

  • 8 tbsp granulated sugar (or 1/2 cup)
  • 4 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

Preheat oven to 300 degrees.

In a bowl, cream softened butter and sugars together, then add eggs and vanilla and beat until smooth.

In a separate bowl, combine the rest of the cookie ingredients. Slowly pour the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and mix well. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for 30 - 60 minutes. Combine the topping sugar and cinnamon together.

Roll the dough into small balls and into the cinnamon/sugar mix. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 12-14 minutes, depending on your oven. Do NOT overbake.
