Chicken Gravy mix
Make your own easy Chicken Gravy mix for quick, delicious
gravy in under 3 minutes! Store-bought mixes cost between $0.79 and $1.99 but
often include unappealing ingredients like corn syrup solids and hydrolyzed soy, and other nasty additives. I prefer
having homemade mixes ready, especially during hectic workweeks when a
satisfying meal is hard to whip up after a long day.
Ingredients
½ cup all-purpose
flour
2 tbsp chicken bouillon
powder
1 tbsp cornstarch
1 tsp. powdered
or granulated onion
¼ tsp garlic
powder
1/8 tsp ground
thyme or rosemary
1/8 tsp black pepper
Instructions
Add all ingredients to a small bowl and whisk together to ensure a complete combination of all ingredients. Store in an airtight container for up to 6 months.
To make gravy
Melt 2 tbsp
butter
2-3 tbsp dry
gravy mix
1 cup of water or broth
Instructions
To make the gravy
Add butter to a small skillet over medium heat. Once melted, add 2-3 tablespoons of mix and whisk until smooth, about 2 minutes. Once melted, add water or broth to the pan and whisk constantly. Bring to a low boil and simmer
for 4 minutes on medium-low heat until the perfect consistency has been achieved.
