DIY Homemade Dog Food

Start the new year off right for your dog by creating nourishing foods that you make at home every week or month. By using natural foods like yams, sweet potatoes, pumpkins, and even zucchinis added to rice and cooked ground beef or ground turkey, plus a spoonful or two of a vitamin supplement specifically for dogs, you can help your dog live a better life. I suggest this supplement NATURVET All-in-One Powder Multivitamin for Dogs, 13-oz bag - Chewy.com that costs $25.00 a bag but is worth every penny you spend. If you’re on food stamps the food, you buy can be for you and your dog without any added expense except for the all-in-one powder for the dog.  Your dog will love you and you’ll know you’re taking care of your dog at the same time. Here’s the recipe for homemade dog food:

Ingredients:

Yams, Sweet potatoes, Pumpkin or Zucchini peeled and cut up into cubes. (you can add corn, string beans and other veggies into the mix so as to not waste any food you're not going to eat).

White Rice

Ground beef or ground turkey or ground or diced chicken.

Olive oil

Garlic or garlic powder (unless your dog has an allergy)

Directions:

Sautee the veggies in a saucepan with a little olive oil until soft and smashable

In a pot cook the rice as directed

In the same pan as the sauteed veggies cook up the meat until golden brown, drain off the excess fat and add the rice, mix completely. Then add the all-in-one powder as directed by dog weight and mix completely. Serve your dog a minimum of 1 cup of the mixture daily. Freezes well so you can make a batch one time for the month if you like.  I used to make a batch once a month for my dog and the vet was always surprised that my dog was healthy and had no medical issues. He’s the one who said to add the all-in-one powder to ensure complete care.
