Crab Meat Mousse

Crab Mousse

Crab mousse is a great appetizer dish served at family celebrations where you want to elevate your table. Living in Northern Virginia for so long you learn to use old-fashioned recipes handed down throughout the generations of families who live in the Maryland and Chesapeake Bay areas. The regional culture is great to share no matter where you live or what you serve, but crab mousse is awesome so be sure to try it.

SERVINGS 12 servings

 Ingredients

1 can cream of mushroom soup

8-ounce cream cheese

1 tablespoon clear gelatin, softened in 3 tablespoons water

1 cup mayonnaise

1 cup finely chopped celery

1 tablespoon grated onion

curry powder to taste

1 pound crab meat (lump or backfin), cleaned

crackers for serving

Directions

Gently heat up a can of cream of mushroom soup and cream cheese in a pan over low heat. Once warmed, transfer the mixture to a large bowl.

Whip up the soup and cream cheese blend with softened gelatin and water using a mixer.

Stir in mayonnaise, finely chopped celery, grated onion, and curry powder to taste. Carefully fold in cleaned crab meat.

Pour the mixture into a greased mold and refrigerate until firm.

When ready, unmold the dish onto a plate, add your favorite garnishes, and serve with crackers. Enjoy this delightful crab mold with your loved ones!
