I grew up on a Pan-fried ham steak meal served with mashed
potatoes and string beans. Doesn’t matter how long between having this dish
there is that it doesn’t takes me back to my mother’s kitchen and my childhood. I
just love this dish. My mother used to say that it’s easier to make a ham steak
than to make a whole Ham. Not only is it easier, but also a lot less heavy to
handle.
She used to always say that the ham steak is a combination
of savory, smoky, and sweet if you make it with brown sugar and pineapple rings. Just an all-around
yummy meal.
Ham Steak
Ingredients
1 bone-in fully cooked ham steak (2 pounds)
5 tablespoons of butter, cubed
5 tablespoons brown sugar
Pineapple chucks with juice (optional)
Directions
In a large skillet over medium heat, brown ham steak on both
sides; drain. Remove ham.
In the same skillet, melt the butter; stir in brown sugar
and add pineapple chunks or rings with juice to the pan. Return ham to skillet;
cook until a thermometer reads 140°, turning often.
Serve with mashed potatoes or roasted potatoes, green veggie, and garlic bread. Enjoy!
